Local Environment

Hemel Hempstead benefits from its proximity to the beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, where ancient, unspoilt villages and charming country pubs nestle in rolling fields and woodland.

Despite its proximity to London's urban sprawl, Hemel Hempstead's local environment is surprisingly rural, with the Hertfordshire countryside and The Chilterns an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty just a short drive out of town, and plenty of parks in the town itself providing much needed open space perfect for sports, picnics, family days out or just a pleasant stroll.

If you're looking for apartments, retail space, or offices close to Boxmoor or Gadebridge Park, Image is ideal. A mixed-use development of luxury one and two bedroom apartments, retail units and office suites, Image is within walking distance of both the town centre and some of Hemel Hempstead's biggest parks.

Boxmoor

Boxmoor is an area of nineteenth century housing and meadowland in Hemel Hempstead, maintained by the Boxmoor Trust. The area's Blackbird Moor is used by local people for a host of outdoor activities including picnicking, walking, fishing and sports, whilst the trust oversees the maintenance and regeneration of outdoor spaces throughout the Southern Hemel Hempstead area.

Boxmoor is a quick walk from Image so residents of the luxury apartments, office employees and retail workers will be able to enjoy it whenever they choose, whether on a lunch break, after a hard day at work or over the weekend.

Gadebridge Park

Gadebridge Park is a huge area of green space that extends all the way from north Hemel Hempstead to the town centre. Facilities in the park include giant chess and draughts, a skate park, croquet, pétanque, crazy golf, a play area and two bowling greens.

The park also hosts around ten special events each year, and has a regular fun fair that's great for families and young couples alike.

The Chilterns

Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a stunning area of protected countryside only a few miles from Hemel Hempstead. With rolling hills, magnificent beechwoods and charming villages it's a great place to explore by foot or bicycle. Learn more about the Chilterns

Grand Union Canal

There are a number of walks on the peaceful Grand Union Canal which is joined in parts by the River Gade. The Hemel Hemsptead to Berkhamsted route follows the towpath of the Grand Union canal all the way. It passes a number of pubs - some very old ones, as well as the watercress beds between Winkwell and Berkhamsted. Finally it brings you into the lovely village of Berkhamsted.
